John & Kate Plus 8

A once in a lifetime experience! This long-tailed weasel had babies about 3 or 4 days ago by her behaviour (she has not been out at her usual times the last few days). Today she decided to move her babies from their home in a middle of a field to about 100 feet away to a new hole that is more secluded. I can't believe I was lucky enough to witness this incredible event. She made 6 trips to carry 8 babies from 1 hole to the other. Twice she carried 2 babies at a time. So amazing to see these little tiny feet and eyes. She was so gentle. What a morning! I think her new name is Kate! April 13, 2021
