Western Sandpipers are a common shorebird on the sandy beaches of British Columbia, but I never tire of watching their activities. I've spent hours laying in the sand, waiting to make photographs that stand out. When I saw the thin sheen of water on this sand at low tide, I knew there was potential for photos with reflections. Laying still on the sand, my clothes soaked, I waited until the sandpiper probed the sand for invertebrates, its bill disappearing into the sand, and into its reflection.
