My wife spotted this beautiful Barred Owl while kayaking around Echo Lake in British Columbia. It was very hard to find a good angle to photograph the owl from my kayak and some leaves were in front of me. Before I managed to paddle slowly to a clear view of the owl, I took this shot, which I like because the blur leaves in the foreground add a sense of mystery to this already mysterious animal.
