The Dunes at the Snadbanks Provincial Park is the largest freshwater dune system in the world. Despite the lack of soil a number of enterprising poplars cling on to the dunes, and over the years wind erosion exposes the tough root systems the poplars rely on to maintain their place in the ecosystem.
