Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca). I took this photograph in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec. I was walking by a marsh near the St. Lawrence River when I noticed a group of Greater yellowlegs standing on rocks or looking for food in the water. I spent several hours observing them. The bird on this image was standing a bit further than the rest of the group, and it was also on a bigger rock. I like how the bird nicely stands out against the blue water and in particular its yellow legs, making it evident how the bird got its name.
