Star trails, aurora glow and crack of ice

When I saw the Aurora forecast I straight away plan to head out to Abraham lake, a nice clear horizon, as well as the bubbles, would make an awesome scene. unfortunately the snow had set in and this was the only open ice I could find. I was intrigued how the cracks on the ice create a structure like roots of the tree.
