This Juvenile Great Blue Heron is one of my buddies, who I often see at the Bay. He was standing guard on a sunny morning in June when I captured this portrait shot. Afterwards, he then let me take a whole series of shots of him preening — complete with acrobatic contortions which made him look like a feathered corkscrew. I like this shot, though, because he looks very regal and you can see how he is very serious about guarding "his" Bay.
