The Common Grackle is a very noisy blackbird with a purple head, yellow eyes and beautiful glossy iridescence visible in the right light. They are big, have big appetites, and they can monopolize your bird feeders. No wonder so many birdwatchers think of them as big bullies. They are not my favorite bird at all, but I have to admit they have beautiful plumage colors and this one was caught in the right light. It is eyeing up the feeder from the Spruce tree branch and getting ready to zoom down, in Guelph Ontario Canada.
